Meet the team – Gemma Ollerton (Director)

Position: CompanyDirector

Time at GMS: 22 years + school holiday help!

Gemma says:

“GMS Services was set up by my father, Howard Parry, in April 1997. I helped out from the start, doing paperwork and other admin tasks in the school holidays. I officially joined the company in 2000 when I left sixth form – it was meant to be a gap year job before going to University –I’m still here, however!

“As the company grew, I took on more of a logistics role and then moved into HR. In 2020, I completed my Level 5 CIPD Intermediate Diploma in HR Management, which was a huge achievement personally and has provided a good foundation for my more prominent role in this side of the business – it is important to me that our employees are treated fairly and looked after.

“More recently, I have got involved with the finance side of things and I’m responsible for GMS’ ISO 9000 processes and internal audits.

“I have loved all the different roles – every day is varied and interesting.

From 1997 to 2022

“As I’ve been with the company from the start, I’ve seen its full evolution. To start with, it was just me and my Dad. Now, we employ 22 staff, have moved offices five times and expanded our services within the water industry.

“In the beginning, I would handwrite job sheets – they used to be spread all over the kitchen table, ready to take to site by one man in a van. Compare that with the fantastic computer systems we have now and on site works delivered by a large team – a huge amount has changed in the last 25 years!

A wonderful team and great customers

“The best thing about GMS is our team – I work with a wonderful group of people.

“GMS staff are like an extended family, we are all striving for the same goal and we pride ourselves on having a good working relationship with all of our clients.

“Seeing how the business has grown and flourished over the past 25 years has been an amazing journey, one that I am proud to have been part of.”

GMS Services celebrates 25 years in business this April.

How Passing TMVs Drive Legionella and Biofilm Formation

Passing TMVs create the exact conditions Legionella bacteria thrive in. The combined effects include: Once temperature control is lost, biofilm rapidly develops on internal pipe surfaces.
