When approaching Manchester City Centre, you cannot avoid noticing the ever changing skyline due to the skyscrapers that are being constructed.
One of the most stunning developments is the Deansgate Square complex which is currently underway.
The first of the towers on the plot is now complete and GMS Services Ltd were the chosen contractor to carry out the water treatment part of the commissioning works.
Stood at 44 stories, the water system within the building is huge. It consists of 2 x 21000 litre cold water storage tanks. Both tanks supply two systems. One being a lower pressure system that boost water up to floor 22. One being a higher pressure system that boosts water from floor 23 to floor 44. This incorporates around 22o apartments.
Each apartment contains an unvented hot water cylinder that supplies the water systems within each apartments.
With 4 days to complete the works, our team of 6 had to work efficiently whilst adhering to health and safety requirements and working around other contractors.
The images below show one of the cold water tanks and the pump sets in use.
