Position: Contract co-ordinator
Time at GMS: 14 years
“I’ve been working at GMS Services for 14 years. The years have flown by. I enjoy it, no two days are the same. It’s a very friendly working environment. Being a family-run business you feel part of the team and we all work really hard to deliver high standards.
“I started at GMS as Data Entry Clerk. I was responsible for recording all the monthly monitoring visits, recording the notes that the engineers made onto spreadsheets that were then presented to our clients so that all the work we do is accountable.
“Over the last five years or so we have streamlined our record keeping, moving from a paper system to an electronic system, which I was instrumental in helping set up. All this has brought GMS in line with bigger companies in the industry.
“At the start of 2020 I was promoted to contract co-ordinator. My work involves liaising with the engineers and our clients, helping with logistics and support, setting up new contracts and sorting out queries and new enquiries, and attenfding monthly management & planning meetings.
“Over the years, GMS has gone from strength to strength obtaining new clients, whilst keeping our original contracts. We work hard to build good relationships and have numerous customers that have been with GMS for many years.
Supportive team
“The culture here is very supportive and we all feel involved in all aspects of the business. If I have any issues – whether they’re personal or work related – I have no qualms in discussing them with our Directors who are very approachable. They were very supportive when I was going through bereavement of my mum. They really care. We also support local charities such as Daffodil Dreams, which helps underprivileged children and families.
“Outside of work, I enjoy running and became a Run Leader for Wigan Council as part of the Be Well Initiative. I started with Couch to 5K and within several months was able to complete my goal of a half marathon for Joining Jack Charity. Now I support others in achieving their running goals, whatever they are.”
