Comply with ACOP L8 – Legionella Risk Assessment from GMS Services

Protect yourself and your employees

All businesses in the UK must be aware of the risk of legionella to their employees and people using their buildings, and take appropriate action to mitigate these risks.

The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems Approved Code of Practice ACOP L8 Fourth Edition (ACOP L8) and guidance document HSG274 set out how duty holders – including employers, building owners, landlords and facilities managers – can meet their legal obligations under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and COSHH.

A comprehensive Legionella Risk Assessment prepared by an expert risk assessor will ensure compliance, inform preventative action and protect responsible parties and their employees.

Trust the experts

GMS Services is a leading expert in legionella management and control with 25 years’ experience keeping water systems safe. Our team is made up of highly trained and qualified water treatment professionals who will help you identify, assess and manage legionella risks at your premises to ensure compliance and safety.

Our expert risk assessment department is supported by an experienced and training administration team to produce a final report that is tailored to the complexity of your site and the risk it presents. The report goes through an audit procedure before being returned to the risk assessor for final comment.

Assessment is carried out with minimal disruption to your site and water systems will not be disturbed unless agreed in advance.

Why Dirty Water Systems May Show No Detectable Legionella: A Closer Look at Bacterial Dynamics and Mutations

In water hygiene management, it’s not uncommon to encounter heavily contaminated water systems that, despite appearing ideal for Legionella pneumophila proliferation, return negative results for Legionella during microbiological analysis. These situations often raise questions about sampling accuracy, environmental suitability, bacterial competition, and the complex behaviour of microbial communities under stress. High TVC, No Legionella: What’s… Read more »
